Through no prior planning or knowledge my first night in New Delhi was at Aerocity.
This 'city' is essentially large hotel chains in a precinct right near the airport and with a 'global destination' known as Worldmark 1, 2 and 3 which are essentially a conglomerate of modern offices and shops for office workers and business people.
It's 39 degrees celsius outside so of course I decided to walk the block.
The actual offices and shops are a fusion of western and eastern. You can buy a Sari and work in a multifunctional office space.
There are airport security checkpoints on every entry which are a stark reminder about the countries India borders with and the clashes that are occurring in the present time.
I don't know if I had anticipated a modern India that looks a lot like the international business precincts of Hong Kong and Singapore but I'm very happy to be culturally educated.
I met my first Aussie at the hotel (a businessman) and just spotted the first white woman I've seen since I got here at a Starbucks. #lovestotravel
